Sign him!
What perfect timing! Let Drew Brees move on somewhere else, and we sign Peyton Manning! He finishes his career in his home town, wins several Super Bowl rings, and goes down in history as the greatest of all time!
Poof!
Whoa, just woke up from a real nightmare! Have they re-signed Drew yet?
What! shall we curse the planets of mishap
That plotted thus our glory's overthrow?
agree with the first half
lets sign him but let him take the back-up role. talk about qb depth!!!! wonder if he will sign for the minimum?

Make him a tight end!
He’d be a great backup to Jimmy!
This isn't about rules, it's about manners. Now there's no rule that says that I cant come over here and fart on your entree. But I don't do it. Why? Because it's not good manners.
fear the forehead!!!

Sounds like Peyton isn't so much interested in a rebuilding team.
He is maybe worried about having even less protection than he had leading to him requiring those neck surgeries.

Has Irsay lost his mind?
It seems like things have just spiraled out of control in Indy. And I’m not just talking about the Manning situation. Fired the GMs. Waited to let the new GM be the bad guy and fire the coach (who was a terrible hire in the first place) which didn’t inevitably occur until once all the good candidates for replacement had been hired by other teams. Now he’s making Manning not want to stay even if he does return to health.
Why make this so hard? The situation was real simple: Indy had a bad year because Peyton was hurt. Don’t blow up the team and front office. Draft Andrew Luck. If Peyton can play, keep them both until Luck is ready. When Luck is ready, trade Peyton for draft picks. If Peyton is still hurt, don’t pay him in March, cut him, still draft luck.

Oh Pagano will be a good coach. I don’t know if he’ll succeed in Indy, that much is impossible to foresee. But he is, was, and will be a good coach, even if he never gets a winning record as a head coach (and with Luck, I’m sure he’ll at least get 51% of his games… maybe not at first, but he’ll get at least that many wins many more years than not).
Still, Indy does look like a disaster situation. I think that in hindsight they’d far rather have just left Manning on the franchise tag last year. Oops.
Oh and the Polianoscopy was only about 5 years overdue… Polian can put together a good team at times, but hasn’t done it for years, and his son was even worse than his father’s bad years. The environment Peyton enjoyed so much shows just how blind (or elitist, or both) the moron was. That environment was so toxic fans of soccer could probably sense it from an ocean away. OK, maybe not quite, but close…
Well, in the Polians defense, they made the playoffs 13 years in a row or so.

Sure, but they lost in those playoffs at least as much as they won, and years-wise they won only one super bowl… and that against a Rex Grossman Bears team… and they still came entirely too close to losing that one as well.
They made the playoffs because Peyton is without a doubt the greatest regular-season QB in the last two+ decades. Unfortunately (for the Polians, at least) he can’t do it all in the playoffs, any more than Drew/Brady/Rodgers can.
I feel like Irsay felt the Polians and Caldwell had failed to build an NFL Football team without Peyton Manning. Why not correct weakness? Get a defensive coach and a fired-up new GM and build a quality TEAM.
Then, hopefully, Peyton can take care of the offensive side of the ball for a couple years and Luck will have a much more solid core to start with then Peyton ever did.
I wonder what effect this feud is having on the 11 fans who showed up at the airport.
