Featured Poll: Discussion
I just noticed the "Featured Poll" in the right column and cast my vote... I was very surprised to see the current results - 60% of respondents feel the 2011 regular season was better than that of 2009.
REALLY!?!?!? I'd love to hear why... besides, it's the most recent.

I voted 2009
The highs (of the regular season), like dominating New England or the madcap win in Washington were higher, IMO, than this season. The lows (the loss to Dallas and then TB) felt about the same as the lows this year.
Also, we were considered the best team in the conference for most of the 2009 season. That was pretty cool.
I voted 2009 also...
The Miami game was something special, as was the Washington game and Meachem’s strip, as was 13-0… until several injuries and the most HORRIBLE officiating I’ve ever seen (and we’ve seen a bunch lately) caught up to us… and we STILL only lost by 7.

I voted 2011
Simply because I think we’re a better team. On offense, we’ve obviously progressed, I don’t think anybody can say otherwise. On defense, if you discount turnovers, we’ve still progressed. Darren Sproles>Reggie Bush, Greer/PRob/Porter>Greer/Porter/Gay, Smith/Jordan>Smith/Grant, Graham>Shockey etc…

TOP IS GAWD!
Sorry…but no way is Smith and Jordan better than Smith and Grant. Grant had 20 more tackles and 4.5 more sacks than Jordan had in his final year with the Saints. People whine and complain about Grant…but fact of the matter is he was a hell of a player for this team and deserves far more respect for what he did on the field than he gets credit for around here. People laugh at him, call him fat etc…he was the easily the top 2-3 players on our defense each and every year he played where he wasn’t seriously injured.
-Lombardi was wrong...it's the internet, not fatigue that makes cowards of us all. But then again, what do you expect. Not like the guy could see the future.
I agree 100% that this offense is better. There is no doubt.
The defense is different. You can’t discount turnovers… it’s one of the most important stats on defense period. It’s not much worse or much better – just different.

So you took it as “which TEAM is better”… I can understand why you might pick 2011, now.
I’m more of a literal person, so I took it as asking about the overall season… the games, win/losses, great performances, great plays.
This year had a few better performances on offense; 2009 had a few better performances on defense… and the Miami and Washington comebacks… and the W-L streak.
