If you ask me, I think not. Everyone loves opinions to agree with are to argue with and I think we ought to really know what everyone has on their minds about the way this defense is playing under the defensive coordinator that we currently have. I really think that Tripple G was actually fired before his time was really up not only because of all the crap with bounty gate but also because he was not doing the job he was asked to do. Our defense under Williams was not at all good but it was at least enough to where it gave the offense something to work with. We have basically the same players on defense that we've had for some time plus a few new faces and to me there's no reason why we shouldn't be playing better than last year or at least be at last years mark. If we could at least be the same terrible defense as last year, we'd have a better record right now, but we're even worse than last year so things are not in sinc with the defense and the offense. I also think that the absence of Vilma on the field makes a big difference because he reads defenses really well and as of today I see nobody reading the defense as well as he's done. Vilma had an eye for the offensive formations and the players involved, but I think we don't have anyone on the field right now that can see that as well as Vilma has.
To me, the players on defense that we have do have potential and I really do believe that they can do the job if they were allowed to do it the right way. I think IMO that Spags ought to loosen up and let these guys play like they want to play from their experience and at least get to the terrible defense where we were last year and work it from there.
So go ahead and answer the question, was Spags the answer to our defensive struggles?
