Da Chronic's Offseason Survival Series Podcast: Wide Receivers

How do you know we are officially in the darkness of a world without football? The Super Bowl is done and Ralph and Andrew Juge are about to talk Saints receivers for 40 minutes.

If Marques Colston leaves can Lance Moore be a No. 1 receiver? Andrew explains why he is ready to break up with Robert Meachem, Joe Morgan can be an effective pass catcher, and Devery Henderson is now a great route runner. They also try to figure out if the Saints will sign a free agent receiver you've heard of. We're looking at you Reggie Wayne.

podbean is experiencing issues

I’d like to think the Chronic podcast is so popular it’s crashed their site. Probably not though.

i rank our WR's like so

Graham – TE I know…but he is most valuable threat catching the ball
Colston – guy is big and catches tons of balls in traffic

I am ok getting rid of any of the other guys…their success is largely due to Brees being awesome i think.
Moore – makes plays…but i think he is a product of our system
Meachem / Henderson – these guys are interchangeable to me. Both have been great…but both are replaceable.

Vincent Jackson is unlikely to be franchised by San Diego

Continue the farm team tradition and hope he can stay out of trouble? Cap space is a huge issue here, as a lot of Jackson’s issues in SD stemmed from the fact they refused to pay him, and he’s going to demand a big contract. I’m also wary of bringing in low character guys with multi-year contracts and injury histories, but wouldn’t it be nice to have a bona fide, prototypical WR1 to compliment Graham, Sproles, and Moore? If we can’t keep Marques, kick Meachem and Devery to the curb and make that happen. Morgan, Arrington, and someone else (Braylon Edwards at the nadir of his market value?) to learn and round things out? Welcome to the new nightmare, opposing defenses.

if we were to sign Reggie Wayne, it better be on the cheap

i’d rather have Colston.
