A Letter to Brees: You Really Aren’t "Very Good"

Drew-

No need to read the headlines, you aren’t very good.

In fact you aren’t even great. You are on a different level; one of the greatest that will have ever played the game. 5,476 passing yards and 46 touchdowns aren’t bad for pitching the bean around for 48 hours in four months. Of course Saints fans are biased, but the numbers don’t lie. Loomis knows this, Benson knows this and your teammates know this.

Look me in my eyes. We want you here in the Big Easy. Don’t let dollar signs cloud your judgment. You did your part, now let Condon do his part. If the "tag" falls in your lap, let’s not get sidetracked, you’ve got business to take care of starting in August. Keep a clear mind and sound resolve; this will end how it ends. You will be taken care of either way.

At the end of the day it’s just a game, right? Close your eyes and think about that for a second. You deserve it all, but what do you have? You have "it." That’s all you need. Now let the chips fall where they may and let’s get to business. Now open your eyes. You hear us? Look around we’re everywhere, and we’re counting on you.

Sincerely,

- A. Fan -
