Well, this isn't quite the contract agreement/extension Saints fans have been anxiously awaiting (where ya at, Drew!?), but it is good news nonetheless. NFL.com is reporting that cornerback Jabari Greer and the Saints have reached agreement on a 3-year contract extension worth around $23 million. This reportedly frees up more cap space for the Saints.
Though numbers are still being confirmed, the source said the structure of Greer's extension frees up salary-cap space. The additional room could help the team in its push to get quarterback Drew Brees signed to a long-term deal.
Greer has been our no. 1 CB since joining the team in 2009. He's also one of the more underrated cover corners in the league, IMHO. Glad to see he'll be staying with us beyond this season. Now let's hope he doesn't get the suspension hammer dropped on him by Kaiser Goodell.
