Regina defensive tackle Akiem Hicks became the New Orleans Saints first 2012 NFL draft pick this evening when he was selected by the team in the third round.

Hicks has the potential to join the Saints' sparse defensive tackle rotation and contribute immediately. Here is how new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo breaks it down:
