The New Orleans Saints have chosen OT Marcel Jones with their final selection of the 2012 NFL Draft. And now the 2012 draft is over for the Saints, unless they trade back into the last round for someone they don't think will be available as a UDFA afterwards.
Bradley Handwerger of wwltv.com has this on Mr. Jones:
Jones earned multiple honors for off-the-field work, including the team's citizenship award three straight years and the Big 12 academic honor roll six times.
He started the first 11 games in 2009 as a sophomore before an ankle injury stymied his progress. And while he didn't play in the first 10 games his junior year because of a back injury, he played in the final four at right tackle. He started the final eight games of 2011 at left tackle.
Marcel Jones has big hair in this twitpic from the combine.
The Saints took Nebraska T Marcel Jones in the seventh round (No. 234 overall) to wrap up their 2012 draft. Jones (6-6, 322) will compete for a backup spot behind Ts Jermon Bushrod and Zach Strief. Jones was ranked No. 407 by NFLDraftScout.com. The webstite reported that Jones has "excellent size and comes from a top-notch program, but struggled with durability and needs more reliability."
Now we want to know what the Who Dat Nation really thinks about the team's newest addition. Please vote in the poll below.
