Ed Werder has reported on Sportscenter that the NFL and Gooddell fabricated evidence for the 2010 and 2011 season. I'm kind of surprised to wake up and not see something on this already posted.
I can't seem to find a link to the video or story, but according to Ed Werder, of ESPN, and his source, outside of playoff games against Arizona and Minnesota in the Superdome in 2009, there was no bounty program. So they are saying that this "goldmine" of 50,000 pages of evidence is mostly fabricated, and that nothing at all happened in 2010 and 2011.
This immediately has me wondering about Gregg Williams' locker room banter caught on tape. There (to my knowledge) was zero evidence of Williams talking about money regarding ACLs, concussions, and ankles in piles. So as disturbing as his speech may have been, it had nothing to do with "bounties" as the NFL would like you to believe?
Let's step back for a moment and hypothetically say this source is accurate and what he's saying is truth. Wow. We've endured all of this (and come out pretty well in my opinion given the allegations) nonsense for the length of the offseason only to find out it's a load of crap? What would happen to Gooddell? What would the Players Union do? What would happen with our exiled leader Payton? And his cohorts Loomis and Vitt? Would all be undone? Or would they prefer not to throw fuel on this fire, get their names out of the spotlight, and let it be?
I'm very intrigued by this story, and would love to hear more about it. I mean legal action would have to be taken right? As far as I know, the only evidence that exists is Vilma and his $10,000 rant, and I'm not even sure that exists. What say you, fellow Whodats? Is it about to hit the fan in the NFL putting Roger on the stake? Or is this a nothing story with no real recourse?
Curious to hear any opinions...
