With the contract situation between Brees and the Saints, there has been a lot of talk about public perception and personal opinions of Drew Brees. This conversation has caused me to wonder what the members of this site's take is on Drew Brees. Personally, I still believe that Drew Brees, as a person, is a pretty good guy. I don't think the fact that he is negotiating his contract in order to get the best deal he can (something he should be doing and something I believe most people would do in their own lives), should sully his name or reputation in the slightest. More importantly, so what if it does affect his status as a "good guy", in reputation or in fact? What does that have to do with anything? The most common assertions I've read and heard are that Drew Brees is greedy, he is a hypocrite, and/or he is selfish. I disagree with all of those things but that is unimportant. My emphatic reply to every one of those claims is an emphatic "so what?" I don't like Drew Brees because he's a nice guy or a good person. I mean that's great if he is and I guess it helps you pull a little harder for someone if you like them as a person but I like Drew Brees because he's an elite quarterback. I like Drew Brees because he puts points on the board and wins games for the New Orleans Saints. I'd like Drew Brees even if he was widely considered an arrogant jerk, so long as he is winning games for the Saints. I know I can't be the only one that feels this way. Your take?
