I was listening to the podcast posted on the home page and something bothered me, the question "How much will Brees, Graham, and Sproles regress this year?" So I'm going to open my mouth.
Now, one thing I agree with is that yes, all 3 players came off all time highs, statistically. And more than likely, won't do as great as they did statistically this season. But then I asked what if they didn't? And that question left me hungry for answers for what is going to happen this season, statistically, with the Saints. So I did some research. Basically what I did was, I looked at the stats of when we last played each team on the schedule, and I plotted them, and this is what I got. Basically what I am doing is showing you how we did against these team last time, and giving you an idea what kind of season we are looking at for the Saints.
- On the schedule for this upcoming season, based on the last time the Saints played each team, the Saints won 13 games and lost 3.
- On the schedule for this upcoming season, based on the last time the Saints played each team, the Saints scored a total of 596 points or 37 points per game.
- On the schedule for this upcoming season, based on the last time the Saints played each team, the Saints racked up a total 7,617 yards.
- On the schedule for this upcoming season, based on the last time the Saints played each team, Drew Brees' numbers are as followed: 70.9 completion percentage; 5,580 yards; 47 TD Passes; 13 interceptions. Or a QB Rating of 113.9.
Now just a little food for thought, if those stats even come close to happening the Saints would have the greatest offense of all time. Passing up the 2000 Rams in yards, and the 2007 Patriots in points scored in a season. Drew Brees would break his own record in passing yards in the regular season, have a career best 47 TD passes in the regular season, and a career high QB rating of 113.9.
Just a little hypothetical, statistical fun to have an idea of what kind of season we could be looking at this season.
