So here we are, Saints
Fans... 0 and 3. Not such a big surprise if you ask me. So many factors have contributed to this horrible start to the season. You can look at all of the different positions and break each one down, but most of that can be corrected. I say CAN be corrected but not sure if they WILL be. Not this year.
I was listening to Tommy Tucker this morning on WWL 870 and he made some excellent points. First off, why is everyone surprised that the Saints are doing so poorly this year? Did we actually believe that the "us against the world" theme would actually play out? Secondly, look at it this way... a business has owners, managers, VPs, employees, etc. Let's say that the CEO, the VP of Sales and the Director of Operations all said they were going to take a leave of absence. Do you honestly think that the employees would perform at high throttle and work as hard as they would if the bosses were around? Lunches and breaks become longer, people show up to work late... you get the picture. Regardless of how much these guys get paid or what great athletes they may be, it's human nature to slack off. When the cat's away, the mice will play.
This is not to say that it is an acceptable excuse. No one should be let off the hook. Not even Brees. No one on the team seems to be giving it their all. The leadership and drive that Peyton showed them is gone right now. And this is the major reason that the team is failing on all levels. The talent is still there (especially offensively) but the leader is away on his leave of absence.
I have no explanation as to why the Defense has turned into a group of under-performers. They are now the 3rd worst Defense in NFL history
. Great job, gang. Bottom line is that none of this will change until all of the pieces to this puzzle are back together. There will be no playoffs this year. Make book on that. And it may be a 3 - 13 or 4 - 12 season. Sorry Who Dat Nation. But you know what? No matter what, I'll be watching every game and enjoying the awesomeness of being a Saints/Football fan. And enough with the hating of Roger G. There's a reason he made the decisions he did. There had to be some truth to it. Let it die...
"Who Dat??!!" Umm.. do you really want me to answer that? :-)
