The defense obviously needs some adjustments. I'm not sure if a 3-4 is the right direction. I personally like the old school 4-3 with a stiff DLine and athletic monsters coming off the edge from DE. But a lot of coordinators are coming up using the 3-4 scheme to create more havoc. I personally think the DEs we have starting right now are better fit for a 3-4. But Will Smith will most likely be gone this offseason. Just for fun, I wanted to see what we would look like in a 3-4 scheme.
LE Jordan Mcbride
NG Bunkley Hicks
RE Galette Mcbride
SOLB Hawthorne Chamberlain
ILB Lofton Humber
ILB Vilma
WOLB M. Wilson Casillas
LCB Robinson Patrick
SS Harper Bush
FS Jenkins Abdul-Quddus
RCB Greer Mack
Now, obviously some guys are out of position. Galette is not built for this defense. But maybe he could play more of an OLB role. But Martez Wilson would take on a more natural role of OLB. Jordan should be just fine as a DE with his size. We already have 2 legit MLB, even though Vilma wasn't as productive in the 3-4 scheme with the Jets. But I think we could be more creative and dynamic. I think adding a big anchor at NG would make this work. And Hicks could actually fill that role at 325lbs. Add a NG, DE, and CB in the draft and it would be interesting.
