Saints News, 10/4/13: Saints Sign WR Chris Williams To Practice Squad, Waive WR Saalim Hakim

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

Williams, out of New Mexico State, scored 17 touchdowns for the CFL Tiger-Cats in 2012 on 11 catches, five punt returns and a missed field goal. He set a team record for total touchdowns and a league mark for return touchdowns. Coach Payton seems to be in search of a speedy kick returner. Perhaps this is an attempt to save current kick returner and all-purpose offensive weapon Darren Sproles some wear and tear? Saalim Hakim was reportedly faster than anyone else on the team, but couldn't consistently make catches. In other news, Lance Moore, Roman Harper, Mark Ingram, Tyrunn Walker and Brodrick Bunkley have all been ruled out for the Bears game.

Brian Urlacher patrolled the middle of the field at middle linebacker. Defensive backs kept plays in front of them and made it tough for Brees to complete passes and mount drives.
