Wow! What a showing from our team tonight. This is exactly what the Saints needed. And hopefully tonight's performance will be a determining factor down the stretch facing very tough games ahead starting with the San Francisco 49ers. Tonight's game was just superb in all areas of the game. Coaching, play calling, scheme etc. You add in 6 penalties, a turnover, a missed FG, an easy dropped pass, the Saints still put up 49 points. 9-12 on 3rd down conversions is just outstanding. Brees never had happy feet the whole game whereas the Jets game was a 180 different story. Why? BALANCE baby! When this offense is balanced the way they were tonite, there's no stopping them. They key is to "continue" this sort of balance down the stretch. When you have nearly 250 yards rushing, and nearly 400 yards passing, you will win many games, if all of them. What a performance tonight. I was a little worried after the Sproles PR fumble. But this team never panicked and remained balanced. Oh, and that 52 yard long bomb TD to Stills was a beauty!
Now on to the Mark Ingram subject. Yes I'm eating my own crow. I've stated many times before he sucked and he was hot garbage. Well, I'm eating crow now, and I was dead wrong. After he ran for an 11 yard gain and got a penalty for spiking the ball (Which was pretty dumb), he shook it off and played outstanding the whole game. He played like Adrian Peterson and ran hard. Has he finally woke up? I guess there's a reason Payton kept him instead of Ivory. The Saints will have a tough match up against the 49ers who have a great defense at home next Sunday. Bottom line: Play with balance as they did tonight and we can win.
We're 1 game ahead in the NFC South over our foes the Carolina Panthers. And I will say this, the Panthers are legit and very scary. That defense is unreal. They beat the 49ers in candlestick holding them to 9 points. I watched some of that game on red zone, and they are good. The Saints just need to keep winning one game at a time and hopefully get more separation from them. Lot of football left. Let's take care of business against the 49ers.
PS: Welcome Back Mark Ingram?
