During the SP era, New Orleans has been a team built for the future but, until this season, while our offense has rewritten the books, our defenses have been throw backs and failed to keep up with the changing offensive strategies. Our offenses have not performed as well against teams that are fundamentally sound but do well agsinst those designed to defend against newer styled offensed.
our defenses havent been as effective stopping throw back offenses like Baltimore and San Francisco. Harbaugh has been effective in mixing the best of both worlds, with a mobil QB but, as with Vick and Jordan, his success will depend on how well he throws in the pocket.
The drafting of Vaccaro, who is more experienced defending against new styled offenses than was LSUs Reid, shows our Saints are looking ahead. Our defenses success so far is gimmicky and has been successful largely because of its lack of predictability. But, that will ultimately be its downfall as teams like SF can best exploit our weaknesses. Likewise, their defenses are historically better against our offense.
Ive caught flack for my predictions but I stand behind them. Of course I dont expect anyone to come back and admit I was correct but if you follow our Saints and the leagues patterns and tendencies, its not hard to see where its headed. Unfortunately, the past sometimes catches up with us but, like with offense, SP and RRs defense is ahead of its time and, while I dont see it taking us to the SB, I think we are 1 fast MLB who can cover the pass away from bringing the Lombaris gras
