Saints News, 11/25/13: Seahawks To Lose CB Walter Thurmond To 4-Game Suspension

Kevin C. Cox

It was announced yesterday that Seahawks starting cornerback Walter Thurmond is suspended four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. It's not yet clear if Thurmond will miss the Saints game. It's possible he may appeal the suspension this week and then withdraw the appeal next week and sit out the remainder of the season in preparation for the playoffs. What was once one of the deepest defensive backfields in football now may be less deep a week before the Saints travel to Seattle for one of the more epic NFC battles of the season. To help fill the void, it was reported today that the Seahawks have reached out to semi-retired Antoine Winfield in order to gauge his interest in returning to the team that released him over the summer. Winfield said at the time that he was planning to retire, but reportedly has not yet filed his league retirement papers.
