OLBs Under the Radar

I think everyone agrees that a playmaker at OLB is crucial for our new scheme. Luckily for us, there are so many guys who can fill that role in this draft. I don't, however, see much help in Free Agency. Here are a few guys who could step in and contribute right away that are not being given much attention through the draft process....

Damontre Moore - 6'4, 250lbs, 4.95 FYD... This guy was a top 5 pick in every draft across America. Then, he showed up to the combine and didn't "show up". This is causing him to slide already. I can understand that. But their is still a lot of potential. He is perfect size for a 3-4 OLB. I am saying he is under the radar because of the slide post-combine. He may even fall to us, with the other "rush OLBs" having very good combines and rising up boards (Mingo, Jordan, Ansah). I still remember watching his game against LSU and thinking, "My god, who is this guy blowing up every single play (Moore)....."

Corey Lemonier - 6'3, 255lbs, 4.60 FYD... Again, being labeled as a 2nd round pick hardly classifies him as "unheard of", but there hasn't been much talk about this guy. Everyone is raving about Dion Jordan's combine. But Lemonier had the exact same forty time (4.60), slightly higher vertical, similar shuttle run (4.35 vs 4.40), and did 27 reps at 225lbs bench press. All of this while weighing in 7lbs heavier, at a more ideal 3-4 OLB weight. And if the combine wasn't enough, I think Lemonier had a better career than Jordan in college. Only problem is, he is looking like a 2nd round prospect, and well, we aint got that....

Jamie Collins - 6'3, 250lbs, 4.64 FYD... Another guy with prototype size and athleticism. Coming from a smaller school, he isn't getting the hype train like some guys. But he was a very productive player for Southern Miss. He was a top performer in nearly all the combine measurements, and shows outstanding explosiveness. Could be a great pickup in the mid rounds.

Quanterus - 6'5, 250lbs... This is probably my favorite prospect of the mid- to late rounds at any position. I watched him play a couple times and he jumps of the screen. He has immense potential as a pass rusher. He absolutely destroyed the Alabama OLine, with 3 sacks in the game this past season. He has perfect size and speed for this position. He was leading the nation in sacks before an injury. He missed the end of the season after an ACL tear. If he is cleared, and we think he is healthy enough, this guy WILL be a steal in the draft. I would take him as high as 4th round.
