NFL Free Agency 2013: New Orleans Saints Free Agent Tracker - Part III

Elbert Mack, bring him BACK!! - USA TODAY Sports

STILL keeping track of every roster move the Saints make during NFL free agency 2013. This time with Victor Butler in the house, and guiding discussion questions at the end!!

With free agency activity slowing down to a trickle (do NOT start with the prostate jokes here, old farts...this here's a family blog), it's time to take a gander at this most recently updated FA chart and see what's what.

At press time, I was unable to include DL Kenyon Coleman, but maybe news will break on this today...

Released - 3/12/13 (but look above - he's back!)

Previously, we've discussed who else the Saints might BRING IN to shore up the team, which is all good and well, but as I look up at the top portion of this chart, I see some names gathering dust, and it makes me turn reflectively inward, and wonder what's going on with them, and what actually will happen with them.

Sedrick Ellis, Devery Henderson, Elbert Mack, William Robinson, and Scott Shanle, I'm looking right at you.

Are you sitting at home, waiting for your agents to tell you Vicky called? (or beeped you, perhaps. Dollars to donuts Pay-loo still use beeper/pagers, too) Are you trolling other team's web sites and Twitter, PFT, and Rotoworld to see if you might be rumored to being called for a visit by some other team? Or are you preparing yourselves for the first day of the rest of your lives after football?

Since we're all here together, let's take y'all one by one, in order of longevity with the team and remind ourselves what your situations are with a free CSCINSIDER view of HansDat's Totally Biased and Half-Baked Scouting Reports on each of you and see what the tea leaves are telling HansDat about you:

Devery Henderson - He's been the team's speedy deep threat since 2005, but seems to have lost a step (which SHOULD have worked out great with Brees underthrowing lately), as well as rediscovered some of the drops that plagued him earlier in his career. HansDat's Take: he'll only return at the right price, AND only if they can't find a younger, cheaper, and better receiver.

Scott Shanle - His case has been stated here time and time again, and I won't bore you with it again. HansDat's Take: While he has shown remarkable resiliency and staying power by holding down a roster spot from 2006-2012, the only way he'll be back with the team is if he volunteers to be an assistant coach. RR will want nothing to do with him on the field.

Sedrick Ellis - Word on the street is that he has underperformed his draft status as the Saints' top pick in 2008 and cannot play in a 3-4. HansDat's Take: I don't disagree. See ya, Big Sed.

William Robinson - This guy was on the team in 2011, but never played, and then found himself signed again by the Saints in 2012, starting one game while appearing in six games total due to an inordinate number of injuries at right tackle. My scouts tell me that while he wasn't a trainwreck, he didn't actually cause the Saints to cut Charles Brown, either. HansDat's Take: Since it's shaping up to be an open contest for LT and the Saints will need to create some depth at OL, he just might find himself in training camp with the Saints, but not with any other team.

Elbert Mack - Mack also found himself on and off the Saints roster this year, eventually contributing and even starting two games due to injuries in the secondary. He wasn't terrible, and I think he brought a little something to the special teams, too. HansDat's Take: He'll definitely be signed by the Saints before training camp to compete for a spot in RR's heart.

OK, Saints fans. You now have Hans D's state of the union at UFA of the former Saints players still in that chart up there. What do you think will happen with them? What SHOULD happen with them? What do you think is happening with them right now? How much would you pay for HansDat's Totally Biased and Half-Baked Scouting Reports if they were available via a subscription service?
