I pretty much understand what the Saints did in the draft, but I can't say I was happy we passed on Sharif Floyd. I really thought we were getting a steal when he dropped past the Raiders, but he fell all the way to the Vikings, so maybe something came out that I didn't hear about. Anyway, what past is past.
The Saints still have some glaring needs. Left Tackle being number one in my estimation. I never understood all the hoopla over drafting an olb. I think we have several young guys at the position already, so why add another young guy. I do think we need a veteran there to stabilize things. I have an idea in that area.We also could use a veteran corner or two.
Now we have to talk money. After the Chris Ivory trade, we have about 3.2 million to play with. I propose after June 1, we cut Roman Harper that would put us around 10 million under the cap. We that money they could attract Tyson Clabo for about 4 to 5 million.I know he is a right tackle, but I was thinking Strief would move to the left side.
Then I would go after Brian Urlacher. He could be signed for a couple million, if you can convince him of a chance of winning a super bowl. With the signing of Urlacher, I would move Vilma to strong side linebacker. In the 3-4, Vilma would be a better fit at strong side backer than inside.
I would also move Malcolm Jenkins to strong safety, Vaccaro is a natural free safety, who can catch. Jenkins is a fine cover safety, but he can't catch. We need interceptions and Vaccaro will get them for us at free.
Anyway those are my thoughts. What are yours?
