I am a French Saints fan for about 25 years and one day before i die,i hope to make a kind of pilgrimage to N.O. to the Superdome to see the Saints playing live.
I read here and there on the net that NOLA is one of the most dangerous city in the world.there are neighbourhoods to avoid,ect...
I watched a french tv show once, where a french guy wanted to cross USA with almost no money and when he arrived to NOLA from train and took a taxi, the driver told him to stay close to the back seat because of guys who assault the taxi drivers pretending they just wanted to talk.
Then,Later, the french guy arrived in a neighbourhood,he didn't mentioned the place, where a shopkeeper told him to do not go to the next block or something, but the french TV guy wanted to go & meet people Because the title of the show was "I will go and sleep at your home".he always wore a live camera to shoot what was happening. And he tried to do that all around the world.
So he went where he was told not to in NOLA.I thought to myself the guy is nuts.
Finally, after some creepy meetings but nothing bad in some so called bad NOLA neighbourhoods,he was walking in a street and perhaps a 50 years old black man was seating in his yard drinking.the TV guy start the conversation and the black man told him to come in and they start to talk.
After a while, the TV guy told his story in NOLA to the black man and the guy told him something like"you're a white man,you can't go some places,i'm a black man,i'can't go some other places.it's always been like this, and nor you or i can't change anything about that"
Later in the night,in Bourbon street, the TV guy start to talk to a white young guy who asked him really believing it seemed "Don't you all speak arab in France Now?"or something like this.
It was so stupid that there was no answer to give.
Well, nevermind, one day i'll be in the dome for one game at least.
But,i'd like to know what those of you living there think about all what is said about NOLA.
Never been there so far but i feel it great anyway.
