Notable players who did not make roster: Chris Chamberlain, Rufus Johnson, and Tom Johnson. Chamberlain is 1 year removed from an ACL tear, and his ticket to NO, Spagnuolo (his old HC in STL), is out the door. This could point to his release. Rufus Johnson is very raw and could use a redshirt year similar to Toon, Jones, and Tiller had last year. Tom Johnson is just the odd man out in arguably a poor scheme fit for him.

One other spot that I'd like to mention is the 5th CB slot. I gave the nod to Rod Sweeting because he was such a big physical presence for GT, but AJ Davis and Ryan Lacy will push for that spot as well.

One last point I'd like to make is about Jonathan Vilma. You may notice I have him listed as an OLB rather than an ILB. That is because he is in fact going to play OLB. Sean Payton said in a presser back in February, "He'll play in the weakside position, similar to what he did last year." All this hype you may have been hearing about Vilma starting in the 2nd ILB spot is pure garbage. David Hawthorne will get the nod there. The entire reason Vilma was traded to NO in the first place is because the NYJ switched from a 4-3 to a 3-4 and he was a horrible fit at ILB next to the up and coming David Harris. Vilma will get playing time at weakside for 1 year before the Saints draft a premier pass rusher next year such as Kyle Van Noy or Adrian Hubbard.

Any comments and critiques are welcomed.
