Devery Henderson Released by Washington Redskins

Ronald Martinez

Could Devery wind up back here in New Orleans?

The Washington Redskins have released wide receiver Devery Henderson, the team announced yesterday. Henderson was signed by the Skins in early June, after the Saints let him walk in free agency. Obviously you know what I am going to ask next.

That's right: Should the Saints re-sign Devery?

Ever since Joe Morgan suffered his season-ending ACL injury, the Saints have been on the prowl for bottom-of-the-barrel free agent talent, signing veteran receivers Steve Breaston and Patrick Crayton. Let's face it: neither of those guys is going to amaze us. In fact, any receiver even available at this point pretty much sucks. If they were worth a damn, they wouldn't be available. Amirite?

So in my mind, I feel if the Saints are going to keep a washed up, good-for-nothing receiver on their roster, it might as well be Devery. Our Devery. He kinda knows the friggin playbook after all, and has a rapport with quarterback Drew Brees. To be honest, I can't think of a reason not to ditch those other guys and just bring back Henderson.

So what do you think? Could it happen? Will it happen?
