I was exploring the idea of getting the NFL Ticket so I can stay home on Sundays instead of having to go to a bar most Sundays to watch the Saints. But I find Direct TV so incredibly frustrating. They seem to want you to commit for two years and not even know what amount of money you will be obligated to pay them. I don't want to eliminate my Comcast as a provider- certain channels don't come on Direct TV. So, I just want to add the NFL Ticket as inexpensively as possible. But to get the NFL Ticket you have to order Direct TV's Choice packagefor $29.99. Ok, not so bad. But, that's low def and they don't tell you that unless you ask them 5 times. And then they say there is a free upgrade to a HD DVR, but that's bogus, because you pay and extra 14.99/ mo for HD so it's not a free upgrade. And these prices are only for the first 12 months- you are obligated for 24 months. But they won't commit to prices for months 13-24 or at least they wouldn't with me. The NFL Ticket is free for the first season but they don't know the price for next season. And I get this sneaky suspicion that if I don't ask the right questions I will get burned even worse. I tell them all I want is to know what I am getting into and they give you that standard "Oh, I completely understand", and "Oh, I will certainly do everything I can do to answer all your questions," but after investing 40 minutes on two phone calls and 35 minutes on 2 web sessions trying to find info, my best guess is that it's about $1800 for 2 years for only 1 TV with a HD DVR for their least expensive package that will give you (yeah- GIVE you) the NFL Ticket unless you want to go maybe low def (why would I do that?) and maybe save $360 over 2 years. Anyone know anything about this?
