There seems to be some confusion as to Federal law stating that employers can't penalize an employee for taking a medication prescribed by a doctor regardless of any employer ban of said medicine...like steroids. Nevermind that I personally went through this entire process with a former employer before, an employer who gladly informed me of the labor laws and how he had to provide an exemption so long as the drug or treatment in question is deemed medically necessary.
Behold! Evidence that the NFL does allow banned PED's in certain situations. It's known as The Therapeutic Use exemption.
Both deal with the flavor of the month, adderall. The second even refers to the Saints own fat punk kicker. You'll also notice this isn't called the adderall exemption policy. Now granted, the NFL likely has one of the most scrutinized policies to receive one but it also probably follows the letter of the law exactly. It's not advertised to fans but it's there.
So stop saying the NFL bans all PED's with no exemption and no tolerance. They don't. They can't. Get hurt/have a medical condition, get prescription, go through the NFL's rigamorole, get Therapeutic Use exemption, go play WHILE under the influence of banned PED.
