Saints News 9/24/13: Saints Rank 4th In Total Defense, 6th in Total Offense

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

Did anyone truly think these lofty rankings would be possible after three weeks? Most Saints fans were just hoping for a top-15 defense and dared not dream for a top-5. It's still early in the season and rankings can be deceptive, but it's worth noting at the start of week 4 that the Saints are marching even better than most hoped before the season began. Can they keep it rolling this week against the 3-0 Dolphins on MNF? In other interesting stat reporting, Pro Football Focus says Saints DE Cameron Jordan has more QB pressures than J.J. Watt through three games and on 19 fewer snaps! I like how this season looks so far!

I’ll be the first one to admit that I didn’t see this one coming. Sure, Drew Brees is arguably one of the top 5 quarterbacks in the NFL, and only time will tell where history places him after his retirement. The fact remains however that the New Orleans Saints offense hasn’t been cranking out numbers like it did in our 2009 championship season.
