Obsession

-an idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person's mind.

Anyone else have this problem with the Saints? Of course you all do, I read this site daily.

Sitting at home watching the game Sunday by myself, the first time in 3 years I've done so, I realized how much it effects me. Alone, pissed off at bone headed play after play jumping and cursing at home alone is what crazy people do right? screaming and cursing as loud as possible when Khiry rolls through the safetys for the win is down right insane it seems. When others join in the fun, it seems normal, but alone that's another story. Still I can not get enough of it. Week in and week out, year in year out.

Mcneese State, UL, LSU are all programs I follow. Mcneese and UL can put a frown on my face when I see a loss. LSU can ruin my night sometimes... but boy ol boy them Saints can ruin my week. Or having me walking into work on cloud 9. It's a strange feeling, to put that much into the team. Blood pressure high, hands are shaking from a game, but it's there and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I believe we can turn the team around this year if we can get and stay healthy. Is it my unhealthy obsession that makes me feel this way? Possibly, but healthy we can do something. NFC south is not out of reach by any means. Some of our toughest opponents, we have at home. Ground game is working well as it's ever been and that's what it takes to win on the road. Our road opponents other than Detroit are not known for lighting up the score boards, so if our run game stays on track we can grind out wins on the road. In the dome we can have a shoot out with anyone. 4 away games 6 home. if we play our worst. drop 3 away and two at home, that would leave us at 8-8. Play our best football after the bye win out at home drop 2 on the road 11-5. Those are realistic numbers under Payton.

We survived Greg Williams, blitz till it hurts NCMFers, we can grind out more W's with Rob Ryan's D. They certainly haven't played up to par of last year. Can you call it a fluke? Maybe top 4 D was a fluke, but we are not a bottom of the Barrel D. When the push up the middle starts the rest will fall into place. Our corners are a concern I do not doubt., but how many more elite receivers and QB's are we facing this year? Megatron, Rodgers(home), Green(Home) and falcons Crew(home). After a bit of settling in we can handle any other team on schedule's receivers and qbs. The other Elites i mentioned we have at home, so that takes them down 1 notch. Has obsession blinded my reality with our D? Time will tell.

This team is the "best" Saints team on paper if the masses are to believed. We lost one of those guys big piece mind you, but Bush could start for many teams in the NFL. They have a early bye to work some things out, as well as get that week to get healthy. Slow start isn't how we wanted this to go down, I know my screaming isn't over. This obsession will lead to more high blood pressure and cursing at the top of my lungs, but I am not willing to call this year a loss. Payton/Brees have a lot to work with, and soon we will see that work on the field.
