Mocking the Draft came out with their latest mock draft yesterday and they're really throwing out a lot of curve balls this week. Especially for our Saints.
Matthew Fairburn has the Saints trading with the Dolphins to move up to the 19th overall spot and drafting outside linebacker Anthony Barr.
19. TRADE New Orleans Saints (via Miami Dolphins) - Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA
*The Saints trade their first-, third- and fourth-round picks to the Dolphins for pick No. 19
Two trades in as many picks. The Saints need a pass rusher for their 3-4 defense. Anthony Barr is rough around the edges, but his physical talent is undeniable. If he falls into the late teens, someone will jump up to take him before he gets to the Cardinals, Packers or Eagles.
No. Please no. No, no, no, no, no, no. No.
Look, I really don't know much about Barr. I'm sure he's a fine player. This isn't really about him. This is about how dumb it would be for the Saints to give up a third and fourth round pick just to move up eight spots. I hate this move. If the Saints trade up in the first round my head is going to explode. For the first time in what seems like a million years, the Saints have nearly all of their draft picks in every round this year. Let's keep it that way. If anything, they should be trying to acquire more picks.
Am I right?
