Due to the heavy rain that fell before the 11 AM practice session, it has be moved indoors and is now closed to the public. There was only one practice scheduled for today so tune in tomorrow.
From Coach's live interview.
On Brandon Coleman. He had some good catches today. Sean thinks he has good hands, and his lower body strength is improving. Liked what he saw. Said in the nickel package they ran indoors that all the WRs get 40 plus reps.
On Brandin Cooks.
Didn't practice because of a stomach virus and slight fever.
On Byrd, expect him back sooner than later.
On the Officials.
They are trying to make a point in the preseason, and you are seeing the flags as a result. Harder on the defense than the offense, and we have to get up to speed on that, (before regular season implied).
On the perceived improvement stretching the field.
Depends on success of early downs, and hope we are getting better at that. Mentioned the running game key in making the play-action more effective.
When asked if blocking ability by the WRs in camp, would be critical to making the roster.
Sean said, the unit as a whole needs to be better at blocking particularly in the run plays. That yes, blocking by the WRs, was a very important part of their job description.
On whether Joe Morgan is 100 percent.
Sean said no he wasn't, but he was getting close, and improving very well. That he was coming back from a major rehab, and was way ahead mentally, with what is expected of him, than he was two years ago. The next two weeks will be important for Joe, both in the deep game, but also for him to play in the short and intermediate passing game. (Routes)
On Drew.
Thought his tempo was good. In and out of the huddles quickly. His throws were better. And most importantly, that there was no ill effects carrying over from practice on Sunday.
On Kenny Stills.
Very quick to pick everything up last year Before the injury, in mini-camp he was playing very well. Not 100 percent but doing good, and good to have him back on the field. On whether Kenny will be ready for snaps in the next preseason game, that he would be monitored, and much like Drew he wouldn't rush to get him back, to avoid any set back.
On Keenan Lewis.
Short and sweet! Just working through rehab.
On Ryan Griffin. Learning to take control of the huddle, good arm strength, and accuracy. having a good camp.
On Travis Cadet. Has good hands and a natural receiver, just needs work on the other facets of the RB position, like blocking. Having a good camp.
