While everyone has been focusing on all the penalties the Saints accrued in their 31-24 win over the Titans Friday night, one little interesting piece of information has been unknown or overlooked until now.
Sean Payton wasn't calling the plays for the Saints Friday night. Instead, he handed off the duties to offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, Jr. And it might not be the last time.
Interesting from #Saints preseason games: Sean Payton said he handed off play-calling to OC Pete Carmichael. It may continue into the season

Well this is certainly a surprise. Hard to imagine Payton giving up any type of control over this team willingly, especially something as crucial as the play calling.
But Carmichael certainly knows what he's doing, having experience calling plays for the Saints during Payton's one year suspension in 2012.
This might turn out to be a great move. Not having to call plays would allow Payton to oversee the entire team and focus on other aspects of game management. Like ripping Jimmy Graham's head off when he dunks another football over the goalpost.
What do you guys think?
