The Saints were at their healthiest state as a team this week, but (unsurprisingly) decided to play it safe and allow the guys competing for roster spots take most of the game time versus the Ravens. Players such as Drew Brees, Keenan Lewis, Cam Jordan, Curtis Lofton, and many others all dressed out and participated in warm ups but did not see any game time.
Player | Position | Injury |
Erik Lorig | FB | Leg |
Khairi Fortt | LB | Leg/Foot |
Kenny Stills | WR | Quadriceps |
Marcus Ball | SAF | Undisclosed |
Rafael Bush | SAF | Undisclosed |
During the game two Saints appeared to have gotten shaken up, neither of which looked serious. Robert Meachem, who's injury was unreported, ended up coming back into the game soon after, and Champ Bailey suffered an apparent hand injury.
As far as the list of guys above, it is very encouraging to see a number that is much more lower than the fifteen inactives two weeks ago. Rafael Bush had only missed a couple days of practice prior to the matchup against the Ravens and his injury is not known to be of any concern.
The only player that I am concerned about is Kenny Stills, who started the offseason practices off with a quad injury and ended up re-aggravating it following a comeback. He could be placed on the Injured Reserved with designation to return, but the Saints might stick it out and keep him on the roster depending on how healthy he is. Lorig, Ball, and Fortt are the other guys that I could see being placed on IR, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Marcus Ball released as well.
