Saints Camp Day 8: Porter returns to practice and then returns INT to endzone

Cornerback Tracy Porter returns to New Orleans Saints practice in style | NOLA.com

Cornerback Tracy Porter returned to practice for the New Orleans Saints on Friday after being sidelined by back spasms for the last two days. And he made his presence felt, intercepting quarterback Drew Brees during team drills. It was believed to be the first pick thrown by Brees during team drills in camp this year. Porter stepped in front of receiver Courtney Roby to snag the ball, then ran untouched toward the end zone. The play was reminiscent of his game-clinching interception of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning in Super Bowl XLIV.

New Orleans Saints defense gets the best of offense in two-minute drills | NOLA.com

The defense earned the bragging rights Thursday when the New Orleans Saints held their first set of two-minute drills toward the end of practice. The first-string defense kept Drew Brees and Co. out of the end zone, then second-string quarterback Patrick Ramsey threw an interception before third-string quarterback Chase Daniel ended the last drive with a controversial touchdown pass to tight end Jimmy Graham. Is it foolish to expect the D to be even better this year? HELL NO!

Practice Observations: Offense lights up; small injuries mounting | wwltv.com

Injury Report: RB Pierre Thomas (left wrist), LB Scott Shanle (left knee) and TE Jeremy Shockey (right knee) all sat out practice. X-rays on Thomas’ wrist came back negative, Head Coach Sean Payton said, and he’s "expected back sooner rather than later." Shanle missed his third-straight practice while Shockey sat out for the fifth consecutive session. Meanwhile, CB Tracy Porter missed the final half of practice with back spasms and CB Patrick Robinson and TE Tory Humphrey both tweaked their hamstrings. The PUP players – S Darren Sharper (left knee), WR Robert Meachem (toe) and LB Clint Ingram (left knee) – all sat out practice.
