Well it's about damn time! We all knew this had to be coming. That would explain Harper's late arrival to yesterday's OTA practice.

Looks like Harper is definitely in the plans for the future, much to the disappointment of those Saints fans who were hoping the team would outright cut him instead.

The new deal extends Harper through the 2015 season, which should help the Saints financially by spreading out the money. Harper was set to have a $7.1 million salary cap figure, including a base salary of $5.25 million of which more than $2.5 million would have been guaranteed on the third day of the league year.

Harper's new contract has him earning $840,000 as his 2013 base salary, $2.35 million in 2014, and $2.7 million in 2015.

The New Orleans Saints completed their first week of OTAs yesterday and the media was finally allowed access. That means finally getting an initial peak at the depth chart by seeing who lines up where during practice.

Mike Triplett was kind enough to share with us exactly which players were running with which team on the defense during practice, basically laying out the defensive depth chart, for the day at least.

Of course we're reminded by coach Payton not to read too much into any of this. And, of course, we're going to ignore him. So here are my quick observations of Thursday's practice lineup.

Malcolm Jenkins, Jonathan Vilma, Kenyon Coleman, and David Hawthorne did not practice.
Jabari Greer was running with the second team. Ouch. That's a surprise but I doubt Patrick Robinson is going to steal his starting spot.
With Malcolm Jenkins not practicing, Isa Abdul-Quddus got the nod at free safety with the first team. Good for him.
The highly touted Chase Thomas was all the way at the end of the line with the fourth stringers.
Tom Johnson as the starting defensive end opposite Cam Jordan and Akiem Hicks on second team? That's a little interesting.
The defensive tackle rotation order is as I would have expected: Brodrick Bunkley, Jonathan Jenkins, Issako Aaitui.
Will Herring got the first string honors at inside linebacker next to Curtis Lofton.
Who is this Ray Shipman character at second team inside linebacker?

Choosing the Final Member of our New Orleans Saints Mount Rushmore

We are nearly finished choosing the four members of our Saints Mount Rushmore, with Drew Brees, Rickey Jackson, and Sean Payton all having been selected as the first three honorees. Now it's time to decide the final Saints personality worthy of being carved onto our mountain sculpture.

This is probably the toughest decision of the entire process and the debates are sure to become heated. There's only one spot left and still plenty of worthy candidates. Who the heck knows how the votes will fall now. If you've got a personal favorite that you'd really like to see make it on The Mount, go ahead and state all the reasons you think others should vote for him.

As a reminder, we're choosing each person one at a time. I've thrown up a new poll below with all the reasonable nominees listed. You guys are voting for the final face worthy of being on our Saints Mount Rushmore. The poll will be open for exactly 48 hours. If we don't have a majority, we'll hold a runoff election. Once we have our winner, that's it.

New Orleans Saints 2013 Interactive Fan Map

It's been over two years since starting our Who Dats Where Y'at Google map and asking Saints fans across the globe to populate it with their current location. Since we're in the dead of the offseason, I think now is as good a time as any to revive our map and make sure new members add themselves to the mix.

For those that have already participated, your work is done. But feel free to check out the map because it's pretty cool to see where everyone lives. For those that that have never taken part, please make the jump and follow the instructions carefully.

To add yourself to the map, however, you'll need to sign in to your Google account. Once you're there and signed in, click on the Edit button.

Now that you're in edit mode, zoom into the part of the globe where you are located and select the placemark button.

Then place the placemark at your location. If you're concerned about privacy, you certainly don't need to place it exactly on top of your house. Just make sure it's in your town or neighborhood. Once it's placed, type your member name or actual name in the title box.

If that's all you want to include, click "OK" and you're done. If you want to add a little more flare, you can upload your profile picture or any other picture and add any other description you'd like. PLEASE DON'T DELETE ANYONE ELSE'S PLACEMARKS.

An interactive copy of the map can be seen below and should be live updating, including everyone's placemarks as they actually place them. Hopefully, by the end of the day, our map will be populated with lots of your placemarks.
