What Up With Dat?: Three Strikes, I'm Out
Below are my answers to last weeks reader questions submitted Friday. Special thanks to all those that participated. Feel free to continue the discussion on any of these topics in the comment section below.
Based on the recent decline in participation, I think we'll be cutting back the frequency of our 'What Up With Dat' series to every other week.

Do you think the Panthers will be a serious threat in the division next season? -Mike R.
Absolutely. That doesn't mean I think they will win the division, but they will absolutely be a threat. The NFC South is the most unpredictable division in the league. Worst to first a regular occurrence so it could actually be the Buccaneers we all need to fear.

Happy Mardi Gras weekend! It's Carnival time down here in the Big Easy which means beads, baubles and boobs abound! But even with all the partying going on around me, I'm never too busy to answer a few questions from Saints fans. Which is why our "What Up With Dat" mailbag series, where you guys submit questions and I answer them, continues on without interruption.
So if you've got a burning question you've been dying to know my answer to, send an email to blogandgold@yahoo.com, send me a tweet @csctweet, post on our wall at Canal Street Chronicles Facebook page or just ask me in the comment section below. They can be about the Saints, the NFL, the blog or even personal. Don't forget to leave your first name and last initial so we can give you credit for your question if we wind up using it. I will round up the best questions and answer them in a timely fashion in a second follow-up post.
What Up With Dat?: Short and Sweet
Below are my answers to last weeks reader questions submitted Thursday. Special thanks to all those that participated. Feel free to continue the discussion on any of these topics in the comment section below.

Is Will Smith gone? - Sylvain G.
Personally, I think so. If the Saints really are tight against the cap and need to free up some money, Smith's $7 million contract is a fair place to start. He's also due a $1 million roster bonus on March 27th. Unless Smith is willing to re-negotiate or the Saints are able to work some magic with this cap carryover loophole, he'll probably be a casualty.

What Up With Dat?: No Pro Bowl Talk
Below are my answers to most of last weeks reader questions submitted Thursday. Special thanks to all those that participated. Feel free to continue the discussion on any of these topics in the comment section below.

Can the saints learn to play on the road, or is it a case of always striving for the no.1 seed? - Matt M.
Well, I think you always want to strive for that first seed. Home field advantage in the playoffs is certainly the ideal situation. That being said, I think the Saints will always be a better team at home as long as they're relying on their offense to win games. They're a finesse team offensively, and they just don't seem to put up as many points or dominate opponents when they're outside the Dome. Which means if the defense doesn't step up, then games end badly. So until they have a defense that can pick up the slack when the offense isn't clicking, I think the Saints will have more trouble on the road than they do at home.

What Up With Dat?: Offseason Transition Edition
Below are my answers to most of this weeks reader questions submitted Thursday. Special thanks to all those that participated. Feel free to continue the discussion on any of these topics in the comment section below.

Who is more expendable: Colston or Nicks? - Ben D.
Wow! This is a tough one. Glad I'm not the one who actually has to make the decision. I'd have to go with Colston, though. There are a lot of other good wide receivers behind him and the Saints passing game would probably go on without skipping a beat. But who would replace Carl Nicks if he left? Matt Tennant? The potential dropoff in talent is much more significant behind Nicks than it is behind Colston. And let's face it, Nicks is one of the best in the league at his position. I don't think you could say the same for Colston. In a perfect world, however, they'd both stay.
