Bengals' Palmer on schedule for opener

Sports Network | August 24, 2008

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer underwent a brief procedure Sunday for treatment of a nose injury he suffered in the team's preseason game versus New Orleans.

Palmer played the first half in the 13-0 loss on Saturday and went 11-for-16 with 105 yards, but was sacked three times and suffered a bloody nose late in the first half.

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said the injury will not affect Palmer's readiness for the September 7 regular season opener at Baltimore, but the signal caller is listed as questionable for the preseason finale this Thursday at Indianapolis.

"Carson is feeling fine," Lewis said. "He suffered a small crack in one of the nose bones. The bone was gently put back into place this morning under local anesthetic."

The Bengals medical staff reported that the procedure took less than 10 minutes.
