Saints 10, Texans 23
I'm reminded of an exchange from Bull Durham:
Manager: What's our record?
Coach: 8-16.
Manager: How'd we win 8?
How'd the Saints win four consecutive games this season? Two weeks seem like an eternity ago.
The first three minutes of that game really summed up the season for me. Something good happens, Saints get some momentum, Texans hit a huge play against the criminally inept Jason David and Josh Bullocks, Saints are trailing.
After Colston, the receivers combined for four catches and forty yards. Part of it is that Brees won't go downfield, but are the receivers open? Remind me again why Robert Meachem isn't playing. I mean, it would be nice if the Saints got some value from their draft class.
Brees' interceptions were both just terrible. Johnson must make those catches. Looking back, if the Saints had converted those two first-half turnovers in Houston territory (Reggie fumble, Brees pick) into points, they could have won this game.
I take back everything I said about Mario Williams, he's pretty damn good.
It would've been nice to see a few more blitzes, but it's a catch-22. I mean, nobody wants to see Jason David on an island.

Killer
I was out and came back just in time to see David about 10 yards behind Johnson when he got the long TD. Enough is enough. Why is he playing? If he is the best option, fire the GM.
The defense can't stop anything. Ron Dayne?! When will a change on the defense be made? They got hardly any pressure and the secondary can't play man coverage. Change the defense to fit the players we have.
The Texans front four made the Saints OL its bitch. No blitzing was needed because the Texans front four lived in the Saints backfield.
The Saints offense sucked. I would say throw a few balls deep but then again Brees would get picked. This time the picks weren't all his fault. The Bush fumble at the goal line hurt.
I don't see the silver lining in this loss. Why not play Pierre Thomas more at RB? Put Meacham out there. Give the young guys some playing time and experience. And for the love of GOD, release Jason David.

This division
I'll be surprised if Jerry from Buc 'Em isn't the only guy left standing after this season. I dunno about you, but I'm pretty tempted to wash the sight of the NFC South out of my eyes.
With battery acid.
Tis true
Jerry is the only person whose team hasn't been a terrible disappointment.

It's time to start playing dirty. I've always thought it might be a good strategy to put all those second and third string players in for a play or two just to try to cripple the opponent. Bring in some third string guy to "accidentally" break the quarterbacks legs. If he gets ejected, who cares? Desperate times call for equally desperate and depraved measures. Maybe then we'll have enough of an advantage to win a game. Maybe...
Also, since it seems as though the playoffs are becoming less and less likely, for entertainment's sake, I'd like to see a game where everyone switches positions. I want to see Jason David at quarterback with all the wide receivers and running backs in the offensive line. Once he goes down, we'll replace him with Mare (since he made that 52 yarder today, we'll switch out the receivers in the O-line with Johnson and Karney - they should offer more protection, but just a little).
