Good morning Saints fans! Lets get down to business.

If the Giants decide to trade Jeremy Shockey this week, it won't necessarily be to the Saints.

Bet you didn't think that was coming. I decided to start with that for something a little different.

That comes from an article in the NY Daily News. Apparently the Seahawks are also interested in Mr. Shockey.

Whether the Saints or Seahawks up the ante between now and the start of the draft on Saturday will likely determine whether the Giants make the bold move to dump the 27-year-old Shockey, who has been expressing his frustrations with the Giants to his friends this offseason. According to team sources, the Giants aren't actively trying to trade him, but they are listening to offers and have discussed the possibility.

And the Saints and Seahawks aren't the only teams poking around...

One source also indicated that other teams have expressed an interest in Shockey, although none more than the Seahawks and Saints. The source did not say who those teams were, but one possibility is the Atlanta Falcons, who are looking to replace tight end Alge Crumpler.

This is the part I love. Here are a few bits from different parts of the article.

Shockey has been telling friends he wants to go to the Saints...he has told many people that he is frustrated with his role in the offense...Rosenhaus, in a recent TV appearance, did not deny that Shockey is unhappy and wants to be traded...

Yet here is Kevin Boss...

"I think we're all confident (Shockey) wants to come back," but he admitted he has not talked directly to Shockey about that.

You don't have to give us your generic bullsh$%* comments anymore Kevin. We see right through it.

In continuing with its draft preview coverage, the Saints released two articles today, this time focusing on the DE's.

The first one is a barely in-depth look at the top DE prospects in this years draft. I would be surprised if the Saints went with any of these guys, so I will let you check that out at your own leisure.

The second article was an actual in-depth look at Chris Long, son of NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long. Again, I doubt the Saints have a chance of landing him, so this isn't that relevant. However, last month I read a better article about Chris in Sports Illustrated. Check it out here.

Finally, in non-Saints news DE Jared Allen was traded to the Vikings.  NFL.com has the story here.

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to trade Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen to the Minnseota Vikings, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

The Chiefs will receive Minnesota's first- (17th overall) and both of its third-round picks (73rd and 82nd) as compensation...The Vikings also agreed on a new contract with Allen, which will be finalized Wednesday.

Jay Glazer at Fox Sports tells us how much the new contract will be worth.

The former Chiefs player has agreed to terms with the Vikings, Allen told FOXSports.com exclusively, on a contract that makes him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. The deal is for six years and just under $74 million, including a stunning $31,000,069 guaranteed — 69 is his jersey number.

Remember this, because it may be referenced later when Will Smith's contract talks come up again.
