With their second pick in the fifth round, the Saint select OT Carl Nicks from Nebraska. Check out his scouting report at NFL Draft Countdown.
Nicks doesn't have much experience, as he was a starter for only one year in college. But he has outstanding size and is built for this position. He will need some polishing, and is not someone who should expect to be playing much this season.

I have been complaining incessantly about the Ellis pickup, but I like this pick. The Saints do need to find some guys who can be used on special teams but this fills a need.

2nd or 3rd round pick?
Most draft boards have him regarded as a 2nd or 3rd round pick. the only complaint i can find on him is that he was only a starter for one year. he has great potential, but developmental for the time being. this could be a big steal a few years from now.
