Tampa Bay Buccaneer's Raheem Morris the Hot Coaching Product
Raheem Morris leaving to coach somewhere else… Does that bother you? He’s been with the Buccaneers since 2002, taking one year off (2006) to be a College Defensive Coordinator. The defense and team record has been very good with Morris in the Coaching picture. This season however, his defense had taken a step back. The defense was solid up until that fourth quarter of the season. Sure Ronde Barber amongst others was allowing their fair share of splash plays, but the win column was filling up in spite of those shortcomings (defending the pass against the Broncos and Chiefs). The defensive line never struck fear in the eyes of its opponents, but it did its job, namely against the Falcons and Bears. Derrick Brooks and Cato June never had showcase performances, but they made tackles when they had to. Barrett Ruud was Raheem’s spotlight performer much of the season, defending passes, picking off passes, and disrupting the Quarterback on blitzes.
For a defense that hadn’t allowed a 100 yard rusher much less a rushing touchdown well into the season, that fourth quarter of the season was torturous. Carolina’s backs ran for over 300 yards in one disappointing Monday Night Football game. The Raiders Michael Bush looked like Reggie Bush In his college days amassing over 140 yards on the ground. Obviously that wasn’t Raheem Morris’ defense, it was certainly partially his, but it was on Monte Kiffin to get those guys to show up. Do you have any doubts about Morris though? He was along for the ride, his name is a part of that four game slide to end the season. When Raheem left to coach it up in the College ranks, his secondary obviously took a step back, and when he returned, so did the secondary. This season though it struggled. Are you the slightest bit concerned about Raheem Morris as this team’s Defensive Coordinator?

Three early Draft entrants:
QB Matthew Stafford - Georgia (source ESPN.com)
RB Knowshon Moreno - Georgia (source ESPN.com)
QB Sam Bradford - Oklahoma (source National Football Post)
Not sure about their projected spots, but they certainly spice up the draft. Stafford and Bradford are expected to go Top 5 and Moreno Top 10... we'll see

The Dallas Cowboys have released CB Adam 'Pacman' Jones... Just saw this while watching Sportscenter.
This guy, although good, would be a joke of a signing, hopefully the Bucs don't bring him in. Checkout Blogging the Boys for Cowboys analysis and commentary.

Campbell's Chunky 'Click for Cans' NFL Campaign

...UPDATE...
Obviously the Bucs didn't make it to the Playoffs this season, but the fan base did send the team to the Playoffs as far as Campbell's Chunky Soup is concerned. Click any of the links below to 'click' the Bucs further into the Campbell's Chunky Playoffs. This week they face off against the Dallas Cowboys... Good luck!
The NFL Season started some five weeks ago, so I've been neglecting to inform you about this for quite some time and I apologize. The great folks from Campbell's Chunky Soup are running a 'Click for Cans' Campaign throughout the NFL Season this year. Fans are encouraged to head over to Chunky.com to help your favorite team: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers become the most clicked team in the NFL.
Just for clicking, Chunky will provide the Second Harvest Food Bank of Tampa Bay with 1,000 Cans of Soup. Should the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win the NFC for clicks, Campbell's Chunky will hand out an additional 12,000 cans of Soup. Should the Bucs win the 'Click for Cans' Championship, another 5,000 cans will be added to the coup for a total of 18,000 Cans.
How to play: Each week, NFL teams are featured in matchups that mirror the actual NFL schedule. (Teams with byes will be matched up against each other, with one team being designated as the home team by Campbells Chunky.) You pick one matchup a day and vote for the team you want to win Click for Cans. Wins are based on the top vote-getting team in each weekly matchup. In the event of a tie, the win will be awarded to the team that is playing on its home field. When the game week ends (from Tuesday 12 AM, EST to Monday 11:59 PM, EST), votes are reset and teams are matched up against a new opponent. You only get one vote a day, so come back every day to help THE BUCS win.
As if a great cause wasnt worthy enough to go to Chunky.com and click, you have the opportunity to enter the Campbell's Chunky 2009 Pro Bowl Sweepstakes, each day after you vote, for a chance to win a trip for two to the 2009 NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Consider today Public Awareness Day!! Click folks, click!

May the NFL Draft Rumors and Speculation begin...
"If Sam Bradford [Oklahoma] declares (for the NFL Draft), he takes a nose dive a la Brady Quinn/Aaron Rodgers." - New Era Scouting's Luke Paul Chandler
If the Heisman Trophy winner were to drop ala Quinn-Rodgers would you endorse the Tampa Bay Buccaneers picking him up with the 19th pick in April's NFL Draft?
"Tim Tebow (Florida) will be a quarterback in the NFL." - New Era Scouting's Luke Paul Chandler
Tim Tebow would look pretty good in Miami's wildcat offense.
As the Bull Gator alluded to in another thread, it would be a tough pill to swallow if a feisty team like the Atlanta Falcons were able to scoop him up.
Keep in mind neither player has declared for the NFL Draft. Both players will face off in College Football's FedEx BCS National Championship Game on Thursday at 8:00pm Est on Fox when (#1) Oklahoma faces off against (#2) Florida.

Congrats to Adam, Buc 'Em 2008 Fantasy Football Champion!!
![]() |
| Brought to you by: Flea Flicker |
And just like that its all over! The Second Annual Buc 'Em Fantasy Football League has come to a conclusion. The Champion is none other than reigning Champion "WBC aka awburn7 aka Adam" .... Not the most catchy Fantasy Team name is it? The final results are all that matters though. Congratulations Adam, you b#$%@&^! You are the Champ for '07 and '08!! You definitely deserve it. Adam started the season (0-3) and then NEVER looked back.
I was secretly pissed off when he took The Brett Favre a round before I and it paid off nearly all season. Looking at his roster, there aren't any players that had ridiculous seasons outside of Michael Turner. I think Adam will tell you he took advantage of laying in the weeds and adding/releasing players as he saw fit. Whatever he's doing it's worked two years in a row. Okay let me stop, I know you're salivating at the thought of your Prizes, heh. The good folks at WallDaddy.com have supplied you with not one, but TWO Tampa Bay Bucs Posters. One of the team logo and one of RB Cadillac Williams:

In the event, that THAT isnt enough for our Buc 'Em Fantasy Football League Champion... You've got your pick of one of the two shirts below (brought to you by Zazzle.com and my BANK Account, heh). One is black with "BucEm.com" on the front and "In Chucky We Trust" on the back and the other shirt is straight forward with BucEm.com on the front chest -pocket- and BucEm.com on the back. That shirt comes in white. If that disgusts you, we have one more shirt that is identical to the black shirt shown below, except the back of the shirt reads "Buc 'Em and Leave 'Em"... Let me know which shirt you would rather have and your size, etc.

If that wasn't enough, I've got a bag of goodies for you from Carroll's Sports Cove, the grab bag consist of a Buccaneers License Plate, Bucs License Plate Cover, Bucs Lanyard, and Bucs decals for your hooptie. Lastly, to show that the Buc 'Em Fantasy League is, well, impressive to win. I will be throwing up a Buc 'Em Fantasy League Sidebar Item, so NOBODY forgets who took the Buc 'Em Fantasy Football League Championship home this season. Okay, I'm done talking. Thank YOU to everyone who participated and thought about participating, but was late to the PARTY!!!!
Thanks again to
for the Posters!!!
And a very special thanks to
for the Buccaneers grab bag items!!!
As for Flea Flicker as a Fantasy Sports provider, you hit a home run as far as I'm concerned. Sure I would love for the drop/add feature to be instant rather than weekly, but the Playoff system was fun with the consolation games that took place and the overall points system was good... Definitely looking forward to next season..
Ghosthippo, The Bull Gator, Sendawg, Buc Beast, Tenacious Lee, Linux, and DunnFann I expect to see you guys back next season. Craig you should definitely join up as well. I know it's not for money prizes, but the competition is steep. Stixx! With three wins, you just might be the odd man out. Just kidding buddy, study up and bring it next season...

NFL Playoffs Day 2
So yesterday I pretty much struck out. Way to represent the NFC South Atlanta. Congrats Arizona. Who knew the Chargers would contain Indy's offense? Let's see if I can do a better job today prognosticating.
The second day of Wild Card Weekend begins at 1PM EST today;
Baltimore Ravens (11-5) at Miami Dolphins (11-5)
1:00 PM EST, CBS
Ravens coverage: Baltimore Beatdown
Dolphins coverage: The Phinsider
I really have no reason to pick against the Miami Dolphins other than my new inherited family are all Dolphins fans. Well that's enough for me. You won't find better analysis than this any where. The Ravens win because Flacco is unflappable and I wish harm upon the Dolphins.
Prediction: RAVENS 20, DOLPHINS 17
Philadelphia Eagles (9-6-1) at Minnesota Vikings (10-6)
4:30 PM EST, FOX
Eagles coverage: Bleeding Green Nation
Vikings coverage: Daily Norseman
Is this not the toss up of the afternoon? Will McNabb show up? Will the rest of his teammates show up? I think they will. Minny has turned it around in the second half, but the Eagles have been on fire...
Prediction: EAGLES 31, VIKINGS 20

Hat tip to Buffalo Rumblings for the preview piece. How lazy am I?

The NFL Playoffs begin today... Ugh
The NFL's Wild Card Playoffs begin at 4:30 PM EST this afternoon! Obviously the Bucs arent a part of it, but there's no reason to wish a first round blowout for the Atlanta Falcons. Okay maybe there is. At any rate, consider this your open thread for today's games, your predictions for today's games, and anything else playoffs-related.
Atlanta Falcons (11-5) at Arizona Cardinals (9-7)
4:30 PM EST, NBC
Falcons coverage: The Falcoholic
Cardinals coverage: Revenge of the Birds
We didn't see Arizona at all this season other than drooling over Anquan Boldin in the off-season. We do know the Falcons however. They are a young, feisty bunch who plays the game the right way. I think Matt Ryan is the type of QB that will shake the fact that he's playing in the Playoffs and I think he will play well. Arizona's offense will put ATL's Defense to the test today. Final Verdict: I think the Falcons pull it out. The Cardinals havent been running on all cylinders to close out the season and we all know how that can end up for your Playoff hopes. Good luck Red Dave, I'm pulling for you.
Prediction: FALCONS 30, CARDINALS 20
Indianapolis Colts (12-4) at San Diego Chargers (8-8)
8:00 PM EST, NBC
Colts coverage: Stampede Blue
Chargers coverage: Bolts from the Blue
Damn I hate the Chargers. This team is in the Playoffs at (8-8) and you know what? They deserve it as far as I'm concerned because they won the games they needed. Namely in Tampa. The Colts are a well oiled machine and I expect them to stop the Chargers woffling ways today.
Prediction: Colts 38, Chargers 21

Hat tip to Buffalo Rumblings for the preview piece.
