Saints News: 5.23.08

This article from the Sun Herald is all about the wide receivers. Allow me to put this in bullet form:

  • Colston and Patten are one and two.
  • Meachem is ready to blow up.
  • Arrington is impressing.
  • Both Moore and Copper's special teams contributions keep them in the mix.
  • Henderson might be in trouble.
  • Don't forget about Skyler Green.

Here is what Devery had to say.

"For me, I know it's nothing personal," Henderson said. "I know what I've got to do. I have to continue working hard to better myself and make the team. I have to do my part. Everybody else has to, too, so I know there's a lot on the line."

Here is the other part I liked. This is what Meachem said.

"My expectations are always high," Meachem said. "I feel like every time I touch it, I want to make a big play. I want to do whatever it takes to help this team win... . I have to prove something to my coaches and my teammates and just let them know that I was a first-round draft pick and why I was a first-round draft pick."

I keep forgetting that we really have two first rounders making their debut this year. This really should be an exciting time for Saints fans. Maybe holding Meachem back a year was all part of an elaborate plan. I will say one thing, I am incredibly excited about the potential of this wide receiving corp. It could be amazing to watch. It could also blow up in our face.

I thought this was kinda interesting. On the Saints official website, they put up a little public shout out to the Hornets and their terriffic season this year.

The New Orleans Saints players, coaches and administrative staff congratulate the New Orleans Hornets on their outstanding 2007-2008 season.

The Hornets won a franchise-record 56 regular-season games, captured their ever Southwest Division title and defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs before losing to the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs in seven games in the Western Conference semifinals.

This comes after all the talk about the discord between the two franchises a month or so ago. Maybe we should be taking this as a sign of a new relationship between the two teams and of more great things to come. Or maybe the Saints are simply hoping to pick up on some of the positive mojo the Hornets had this season by putting out some good karma. I'm down for trying anything at this point.

Here is a video of Pierre Thomas talking about football via shopping.

Not too much news this morning. Just pretend I gave you some ground breaking and wildly inaccurate news on Charles Grant. Or Will Smith.
