Well this is getting good. Saints continue to battle back and I believe two wins in a row qualifies for a win streak, if I am not mistaken.
The most important number from todays game is the 0 in the turnover column. In a three point game, just one turnover can be the difference between a win and a loss. Drew Brees looked like his old self with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. Deuce had a slow day at the office in comparison with the rest of the season, running for only 104 yards. Mare looked great and came through twice in the final quarter, kicking the game tying and game winning field goals. Go figure!
The defense played well yet again. This seems to be the one big difference and unrealistic aspect of our Redux season when compared to the actual 2007 campaign. Their play helped the offense take over and win the game with two clock eating drives that both ended in field goals, the final one with five minutes left in the game. Granted the Niners exploded in the second quarter with 17 points and the Saints were playing from behind for most of the game, the defense held it together in the second half and allowed us to squeak out a win. McKenzie was at the top of the tackles list again, and also added an interception. Unfortunately, there is bad news. MM broke his wrist and is out for the season. This could have serious negative ramifications. Rodney Leisle is doing an awesome job filling in for injured Hollis Thomas, and the job may not be there for Hollis when he returns.
No one in particular really stood out for San Francisco.
Its now anybodies game in the NFC South. What else would you expect? Saints are two games out of first place. Next up is a mediocre Jacksonville bringing a 4-3 record to the Dome.
