5 Questions with Usama Young

The battle for a coveted spot on this team is heating up and no where is it hotter than at the cornerback spot. Usama Young has been making a name for himself this training camp and has had a couple of very good days so far, putting himself in prime position to make this talented 2008 squad and improve what was a porous secondary last season. Usama is a very busy guy this time of year. Fortunately for us, he's also an incredibly awesome guy as well and so CSC was lucky enough to snag a couple of minutes away from his busy schedule to get him to answer a few questions for us.  Here is what he had to say!

CSC: Training camp started off a little slow for you but you have caught fire, playing extremely well these last two days. Where do you think you stand in this position battle so far?

Usama: Not sure, really. I'm just focused on going out every day and competing, and I know everything else will take care of itself.

CSC: Any idea how much playing time you will see against Arizona and the other preseason games? Are those games critical to making this team?

Usama: I don't know exactly how much time I'll be seeing, but the coaches have told me to be ready. They want to see what I can do now that I'm healthy again.

CSC: Who has surprised you most so far on the defensive side of the ball?

Usama: Ya know, everyone really seems to have come in with a different focus this year. Everyone is hungry, so I can't think of any one single person who's surprised me.

CSC: What's been the funniest moment during training camp so far? Pranks, rookie hazing, etc?

Usama: Man, seeing the rooks get harassed has been a trip. I was there last year.

CSC: Is Shockey causing any problems in the locker room so far? Seriously. We can't have that.

Usama: No man, Shockey's a great player and we're excited to have him here. He brings a different dynamic to our offense, and really has a good sense of humor in the locker room.

Once again, CSC thanks Usama greatly for talking with us and we wish him the best of luck during the rest of training camp. Keep up the great work!
