Just to talk business for a moment...yet again. First, I would like to say thanks to everyone who is starting to come out of the woodwork and take advantage of this great platform we have here at CSC. Because of this, you will notice all the great stuff being posted in the Fan Post and Fan Shot sections. Make sure you are always checking those sections when you visit CSC because thanks to our wonderful new increase in reader participation and my intense desire to keep all of you up to date on the latest, they will be updated pretty frequently and give you good reason to check back again and again. That being said, I think it's time to step it up! With so much being posted in the Fan Shot and Fan Post sections, older posts will eventually fall off the front page. So it's time we all got acquainted with the "Rec" feature! If there is a new Fan Post or Fan Shot that you particularly like and would like to make sure all CSC visitors see it, go ahead and Rec it. When a Fan Post or Fan Shot gets a certain amount of Rec's (4, I believe) than it will be moved toward the top of the list and stay on the front page longer.
If you guys put up a quality Fan Post, much like the one HansDat did earlier today, I have the option to put it right up on the front page. It can be funny, creative, a rant or whatever, but you have a better shot of me featuring it on the front page if it doesn't have too many spelling errors, is well organized and is clean language-wise.
Another point to know, whenever posting a Fan Post or Fan Shot, be sure to tag it with the appropriate team names, player names or any other random tags associated with that Fan Post or Fan Shot. It helps our search engine optimization so that other Saints fans who don't know about CSC have a better chance of finding our site when searching Google for whatever they are looking for.
Lastly, I would say if you are posting articles from other sources, what I like to do is pick a certain quote from that article and post it as a Fan Post quote. It grabs our attention, teases us a bit and makes us want to read more of it. You can also include your own commentary or funny take on the article as well. This gives you a better chance of me placing it on the front page for all to see.
If any of you have any comments, suggestions or questions I welcome them. Think my writing/opinions suck? Want to see a certain tradition get started? Leave 'em in the comments. I would really like to know if you like the new format of me putting article links in the FanShots section! Personally, I think now that the season has gotten underway this site is getting much better, in both participation and my ability to actually write quality content about first hand observations.
