Super Bowl XLIV: And So it Begins

Superbowl_saturated_medium

Are you ready for the longest, most exciting week of your life?

I apologize to those of you who wanted to start talking about the Colts and the Super Bowl five days ago. As monumental of a moment that it was, I think the NFC Championship was deserving of an entire week of reflection. Let's never forget that win. Besides, how the hell was I going to fill an entire two weeks of coverage for just one game?

But now it's time for that final push; time to finish strong. This is what we've been working for all year. We may never be here again so we must seize this opportunity. Soak it all in and enjoy every minute of it.  I'm not talking about the Saints though, I'm talking about the action right here on CSC. We've got some good stuff planned for you this week in preparation for the big game.

A while back I got an email from the folks at SB Nation letting me know that if the Saints went to the Super Bowl I would have a media credential for the game available to me. That's a pretty big deal for me, Canal Street Chronicles, SB Nation and the future of sports blogs in general. So naturally, throughout the playoffs I've been rooting for the Saints to make it to the Super Bowl because I'm a fan like everyone else. But the possibility of this incredible opportunity for me personally was tied in to their football fate as well.

We all know how it turned out so that means yours truly is going to Miami. If you've been paying attention, you probably already knew that. The credentials are for this entire week leading up to the game but unfortunately, I can't get to Miami until Sunday morning, the day of the game. That's the bad news. The good news is that BigBlueShoe from Stampede Blue and Joel Thorman from SBNation.com are on their way down there right as we speak. They will be attending many of the media events and opportunities all week and reporting back. That means exclusive content. Hopefully, we'll also be able to put together some other interactive content like a Q&A, daily update or a podcast. We're gonna wing it.

That's all on top of our regular coverage, of course. Tomorrow morning you can expect another winner from contributor, MtnExile.  Plus our usual goodies throughout the week like offensive/defensive/special teams statistics, official NFL injury reports, hopefully a piece from saints-nation, probably a live podcast with Ralph and Kevin in there and our final Friday afternoon prediction contest of the season. Tear.

It will all culminate with my trip to Miami on Sunday morning. I'll be meeting up with BigBlueShoe and Joel upon arrival and with just my laptop and camera, I'm hoping to bring you along with me by providing constant updates and pictures as I live out what could possibly be my greatest moment ever as a Saints fan. Then after the game, just as I've done all season long, I plan to give you guys one last "View from..." post. One like never before.

I'm also asking for a little help from you guys. Given the magnitude of this game, articles and info about the Saints is being pumped out with alarming quantity and speed. Surely you've noticed. It's hard for me to keep up with all of it in the FanShots section so any help you guys can give would be awesome. We need to keep this place fresh. Saturday in particular because I will be MIA. For the members who already do a good bit of that, please keep it up. The Times-Pic is doing a great job so getting everything they've got linked here is a definite priority. For those of you who don't usually post links, if you read something somewhere else, make sure to share it here. But do check the FanShots first to make sure that it's not already up there. And don't forget to tag!

I have no idea what to expect this week or on my journey and I have no idea what's going to happen when I get there but I can promise that it's all going to be interesting, to say the least. You won't want to miss it.
