Jammal Brown must smoke the strongest ganja in the world. How else can we justify his desire for the Saints to release him, something we learned yesterday per Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports?
Brown, a restricted free agent who has a one-year, $3.5 million tender offer on the table, is unhappy with his current contract situation. Unfortunately for him, he has very little say in the matter and getting released has got to be the least likely scenario we're bound to see play out this summer. His other options include not signing and sitting out the year, which does nothing to help him gain any value after returning, or ink his contract and run the risk of getting traded, which likely wouldn't earn him a better/longer contract either.
There is one other option, however. The former Pro-Bowler could stay quiet, show us all how he once attained that title and play his ass off this season, earning himself a better deal next off-season, something he'd probably have to do with a new team anyway. It's a no brainer; a win-win situation for both parties involved. Unless, of course, he's got something to hide or doesn't think he's capable of actually producing anymore, a point I think is fair to speculate.
As usual, I turn it over to you. What do you guys think will wind up happening with Jammal Brown?
