Saints Camp Day 5: Hittin' the Links

Well, it's been quite an eventful day. The biggest news being Pierre Thomas leaving practice due to an injured wrist. All reports seem to indicate it's not serious, so he should be back at practice soon. There was some other news about a certain QB retiring.....again. The overwhelming consensus around the world on that is, "Yeah right. I'll believe it only when he officially files his papers. And then, maybe."

The best news of the day, and kinda lost behind the other two stories mentioned, is that Marques Colston is now off the PUP list and back to 100%. Welcome back, "Quiet Storm!" Much more after the jump.

New Orleans Saints try backup kicker with decidedly mixed results | NOLA.com
It's a good thing kickers don't get hurt a lot, judging from what transpired at the New Orleans Saints training camp on Tuesday. One day after kicker Garrett Hartley nailed every one of his attempts at practice, and polished things off with a 52 yarder, the Saints decided to rest him and throw punter Thomas Morstead into the role.

Moore healthy at just the right time
With New Orleans Saints wide receivers Marques Colston and Robert Meachem on the active physically unable to perform list, Lance Moore has gotten ample opportunity to show he is healthy again at the start of the team’s preseason training camp.

"Jahri has spent the offseason working to improve his footwork, " offensive line coach Aaron Kromer said. "He's a strong individual -- he has played very physical through his couple of years starting. So now he's really concentrating on his feet and working to improve the aspect of covering ground and just trying to perfect that part of his game.

Second-year player P.J. Hill, a Wisconsin product who came close to making the Saints last year, is locked up with Chris Ivory, a free agent out of less-known Tiffin. And the beauty of the battle isn't so much its singular nature given the Saints' talent, it's that both have shown genuine flashes of excellence.
