Scouting Report

From NFL.com

Overview

Lutrus range and mentality for the strong side outside linebacker position in the NFL. Could turn into a starter down the line if he can become a more productive player on third down, both in coverage and rushing the passer, and avoid the injury bud. Displays good awareness and flashes the ability to make plays from side-to-sideline against the run. Doesn't shed blocks quick enough, but can hold his ground and set the edge. Shows good effort rushing the passer but needs to add some moves and use his hands more. Still developing in coverage and appears to be able to make improvements in that area. Mid-round prospect.

Strengths

Lutrus does a good job of finding the football. Displays good range against the run but also pursues under control preventing the cutback. Can line up over the tight end, stack, and maintain outside contain. Athletic enough to drop into zone coverage and hold up in man against most tight ends.

Weaknesses

Struggles to disengage from blockers. Can get caught up in trash at times. Not a striking tackler. Doesn't have a variety of moves or action hands to get to the quarterback. Not fluid enough to mirror playmaking running backs or tight ends in man. Has an injury history.
