After striking gold with basketball player-turned-tight end Jimmy Graham in last year's NFL draft, the New Orleans Saints are taking an extended look at this year's version, USC tight end Jordan Cameron. He is scheduled to make a pre-draft visit in New Orleans on Sunday and Monday.

The Saints made the playoffs as defending champs, but never quite seemed the same is they were in their '09 title year. The offense fell from first to eleventh in points. The defense improved overall, but stopped forcing turnovers.

Defensive end is New Orleans’ biggest area of need, but the history of Loomis and Payton suggest they’re not going to take someone at that position unless they’re convinced he’s the best player available. With this approach, just about any position other than quarterback is in play when the Saints pick at No. 24.

We reported last week that running back Mark Ingram, winner of the 2009 Heisman Trophy, had fired agent Rocky Arceneaux. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Ingram has hired Joel Segal, whose client list includes Mike Vick and Reggie Bush, among others.
