The full NFL schedule isn't supposed to be released until 7pm EST tonight but, as usual, things are already beginning to get leaked to the media.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that the Saints will, in fact, face the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers in the NFL's Thursday night league opener.

The Green Bay Packers are scheduled to kick off the 2011 National Football League against the New Orleans Saints at Lambeau Field, a front-office source with one of the two teams told the Journal Sentinel this afternoon.

Chalk up at least one primetime game for the Saints already. The matchup makes sense given that both teams have won the past two Super Bowl championships and should make for ratings gold. This would be the second year in a row that the Saints would have the Thursday night NFL kickoff game and the third time in five years.

The other good news is that the Saints have to play Green Bay at Lambeau field this season, so it's best to get it out of the way early before the cold weather kicks in.

Keep checking back because we will have the full schedule right here on Canal Street Chronicles as soon as it's released.
