As you well know, today is Mother's Day. And if you are just now finding out - - you'd better act fast to get a card and some flowers and get over to your Mom's house, stat!!
So, I did a bit of zooming around the interwebs and found some items related to Mother's Day, the Saints, the NFL, and other things labelled Mother's Day that really didn't have much to do with the Saints, or the NFL, or Moms, really. Hmmm.
Make the jump to read on...
Before we delve into the stuff I found, I'll just let you know how I'm making the most of my Mother's Day.
My wife is a mother, and we had a fantastic homemade breakfast of bacon, eggs, and pancakes with her son and his wife. They also gave Mrs. Hans a nice card, a new rosary, and some chrysanthemums, which we just re-potted onto our front porch.
Mrs. Hans just completed a nice call to her mother, who liked the flowers we sent her (she lives in St. Louis), and later on this afternoon we'll have a Skype with my Mom and Dad, who live in Covington, La. We sent my Mom a nice card inviting her to enjoy a cocktail on Mother's Day (which the card insists is not a traditional drinking holiday - so this came as news to me as that's not how it was in my house growing up - we drank on ALL the holidays), as well as a cool book that is right up her alley - 50 Bags That Changed The World.
This makes me wonder...how are my fellow CSCers spending their Mother's Day? How are our beloved Saints players taking care of their mothers today? Did anyone give Saints-related gifts? Please share in the comments below.
And now onto the Mother's Day Internet Content:
Thanks to Jersey Al of yardbarker.com, I now know that there is an association of mothers of pro football players, which carries out community service and orients mothers to the business of professional football. If you don't want to read Al's story, just go right to the PFPMA web site by clicking here.
For those of you still searching for that perfect something, you can go check out the 2011 Mother's Day Collection on nflshop.com. I don't think they do same-day shipping on Sundays, but at least you could print out a picture of what you ordered and wrap that up hastily before seeing your Mom today.
Some guy on espn.com does a Sunday Brunch "links" column each week, and today he separates his links with Mother's Day references.
Jose Reyes of the Mets helped do a nice thing for a fan's mother, and you can read about it here.
And finally, I hook you up with a link to a "questionable content" video from SNL featuring Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake - Motherlover, the sequel to D*** in a Box. Please note that it contains adult content.
Happy Mother's Day to all and to all a good night!!
